Chetar Arabians ~ MARES ~ Shawnee Bint Shaneka

The moment I saw the initial advertisment for the sale of Shaneka I knew that, even though I wasn't looking for another mare to join us just yet, that I simply had to have this beautiful young lady!
Shaneka carries an impeccable, high Arabian percentage pedigree that's a one of a kind in coloured Derivative breeding - & - Shaneka carries an enviable, rare combination of colour genes - Both of which combined with her fantastic conformation, make this stunning young mare an absolutely perfect addition to the Chetar Arabians Coloured Breeding Program!
My sincerest thanks go to Nicole & Jack Gassner of Niarla Arabians for giving me the privelage of calling Shaneka my own.

Shaneka carries three white pattern colour genes - Tobiano, Sabino Overo and Rabicano. While Shaneka's Tobiano markings are quite obvious, the Sabino Overo and Rabicano characteristics are not so much. The white facial markings of connected star and stripe to nostril and upper lip + lower lip and chin + lightening strike along the underjaw to throatlatch, all combined with the softened [ie. not sharp and crisp], feathered and/or speared/jagged edges of her body and leg markings are all indicative of the Sabino Overo Gene. The white ticking throughout her coat can be attributed to both the Sabino Overo and Rabicano colour genes, though the ticking across her barrel that appears to form vertical lines [barrel barring] and the ticking across the top of her tail and dock area [skunk/coon tail] are definitively Rabicano indicators.
In addition to the white pattern colour gene combination that she carries, Shaneka also possesses the genetics that are required to produce black based

progeny, having Heterozygous alleles at the Agouti locus [Aa]. Shaneka could also quite possibly be Homozygous Dominant at the Extension locus [EE], and if this is so, she is guaranteed to never produce Chestnut based progeny, and will only ever be able to produce Black or Bay progeny, regardless of the colour of the stallion she is bred to. DNA profiling is the only way to confirm whether or not Shaneka is Homozygous Dominant at the Extension locus, which I intend to have done asap.

Shaneka is 75% Arabian in breeding, having been sired by the Black Tobiano Part Bred Stallion "Evindra's Top Deck" [Arabian Park Halik (Purebred Arabian) x Starfire TIna (unreg.)], and out of the Purebred Arabian mare "Shaneka Bint Nizr" [Anaza El Nizr x Tarong Jemma].
Arabian Park Halik traces to Nazeer on his direct sire line [making Shaneka's direct male tail trace to Nazeer as well], and in addition brings the lines of Arabian greats such as Silver Moonlight, Crystal Fire and Trix Silver.
Shaneka's dam is a daughter of the sensational supersire, known around the globe for his consistent production of high quality offspring,"Anaza El Nizr". Anaza El Nizr was arguably one of the best sons of the legendary stallion Ruminaja Ali, and from the awesome mare "Bint Deenaa" by "Ansata Ibn Halima" [to whom Shaneka carries numerous crosses to within limited generations].
Shaneka is the one and only Coloured Derivative Arabian granddaughter of Anaza El Nizr [known of to date], and that combined with her lovely colour gene combination, makes Shaneka a rare jewel in the Coloured Derivative world, and an addition to Chetar Arabians that I am extremely excited about to say the least!!

Shaneka comes to Chetar Arabians a maiden mare not having produced any foals to date. She has, however, been confirmed in foal to a sensational Derivative Arabian sire for a 2010/11 season foal for Chetar Arabians!
Shaneka has been bred to Niarla Arabians gorgeous Cremello Part Bred "Niarla Alaskan Prince" [Aratahnes Excalibur x Niarla Bint Flirtation].
The foal that Shaneka is carrying is 100% guaranteed to, at the very least, be a single silute - ie. Palomino, Buckskin or Black Buckskin/Smokey Black, with a good possibility of also having inherited up to three colour genes from its' dam - This foal will be Palomino, Buckskin or Black Buckskin and may also be Tobiano, Sabino Overo and/or Rabicano in addition to the single dilution of base colour!
Shaneka's first progeny will also combine her impeccable lineage with that of a triple cross to the great El Shaklan, and will be a 75.8% Part Bred Arabian/Derivative Arabian, making this the highest percentage coloured Arabian Derivative yet to be born at Chetar Arabians [by 0.8%]!
Niarla Alaskan Princes' grandsire - "Niarla Amiracle" [Amir El Shaklan x Misarra Flirtation] was one of the stallions

that captivated me in my childhood and kickstarted my obsession with the Arabian as a breed as well as the flashy type of Coloured Arabians, and had me daydreaming from an early age about what I wanted to do when I grew up - that is, breed coloured Arabians! So obtaining the lines of Niarla Amiracle for my breeding program have long been a silent dream for me, and it is with an awesome amount of excitement and honor that I finally welcome his influence here!
